CRASHING ISSUES WITH CHROME & WEBVIEW UPDATES FIXED BY GOOGLE

Social media platforms were flooded with complaints from several Android users across the globe as some of the apps were mysteriously crashing. The problem which started on Monday afternoon had lasted for hours before the search engine giant Google was alerted of the issue. According to the reports, these apps were crashing because of a bug in the Android System WebView component found on all Android devices.
Responding to the issue, Google said “We are aware of an issue with WebView causing some apps on Android to crash for some users.” The company further said “We are currently working to fully validate the scope and a fix is in progress,” the company added.

Immediately after users across the globe were witnessing these problems, some users on forums suggested that the latest Android System WebView update was the reason behind the crashes and that uninstalling updates to the same by heading into your phone’s settings could solve the issue.
The Alphabet-owned company also said “We have resolved the issue with WebView that caused some apps on Android to crash for some users. Updating Android System WebView and Google Chrome via Google Play should now resolve the issue.”
